Boiler Upgrade Scheme
£7,500
per heat pump
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme gives you a £7,500 upfront discount on an air or ground source heat pump. Heat Smart applies directly to OFGEM on your behalf — you never see the paperwork.
What is covered
- Air source heat pumps: £7,500
- Ground source heat pumps: £7,500
- Available to homeowners & landlords
- No income limit — anyone can apply
- England & Wales properties only
- Must replace an existing fossil fuel system

Energy Company Obligation

fully funded upgrades
ECO4 obliges large energy suppliers to fund free home energy upgrades for fuel-poor households. Qualifying homes can receive insulation, a heat pump, or solar panels at zero cost.
What is covered
- Fully funded loft, cavity & solid wall insulation
- Free heat pumps for qualifying homes
- Free solar panels in some schemes
- Funded by the big six energy suppliers
- For low-income or fuel-poor households
- Property must be EPC D, E, F or G rated

Smart Export Guarantee
3p – 15p
per kWh exported
The Smart Export Guarantee requires energy suppliers to pay you for surplus electricity you export to the grid. A typical 4kW solar system earns £200–£600/year. Heat Smart handles all registration.

- Paid for every unit of solar you export
- Rates from 3p to 15p/kWh depending on supplier
- No maximum system size cap
- Works for solar PV, wind & micro-CHP

LA Flex

Local Authority Flexibility lets councils extend ECO4 to households vulnerable to fuel poverty — even without benefits. Councils have up to 25% of their ECO4 budget to allocate to LA Flex referrals.
